First Time to Lexington United Methodist Church?

Everyone is welcome!

Church can be an intimidating place to visit for the first time— especially if you don’t know what to expect. We invite you to experience what the gospel means in mind, body & spirit at one of our Sunday worship services. You can engage with others as much as you want, or remain anonymous if you prefer. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus.

  • Sunday fundays

    4th Sunday Fundays are Here!

All ages gather in a relaxed worship space created to bring all ages together and experience worship and faith formation together.  Young disciples experience a meaningful message, create something that helps them connect to God, and help lead worship.  And there are snacks!  Every student gets a packet to take home with lessons and activities to help them learn about God, Jesus and the Church.

Children of all ages are always welcome in the sanctuary. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in Holy Communion which is on the first Sunday of each month.

If you have any questions contact Genie Bank here.

  • Parking and accessibility

    Parking

You will find off-street parking directly behind the church building off Lake Street.  There is additional parking on Lake Street.  Handicap parking spaces are closest to the main entrance under the canopy (facing east).

    Accessibility

The main entrance is at ground level directly from the parking lot and brings you into the lobby.  The restrooms, with changing tables and handicap access, are located on the this floor just off the lobby.  The activity center/fellowship hall/gym is also on this level. Most activities throughout the week are held in the activity center.

From the lobby, stairs or the elevator take you to the upper level where the  sanctuary is located.

  • Sunday worship IN THE SANCTUARY

Sunday Worship is held in the sanctuary on the upper level.  An elevator is available, along with helpful greeters to assist you.  The gathering area at the top of the stairs includes a unisex restroom.

The sanctuary is air-conditioned for comfort in the summer months.

A small room off the sanctuary is available for those who need to care for unhappy little ones or anyone who needs to step out of the service.  This room has speakers to hear the service.

Worship here is "come as you are."

    • Summer shorts and sandals are welcome.
    • You will find folks wearing anything from ties and jackets, dresses and heels to bermudas and t-shirts.
    • The pastor will be wearing a robe and stole on Holy Communion Sundays and other special services.
    • You will find songbooks in the pew pockets and lyrics on the screens overhead.
    • There is a mix of tradition and technology here to help create worship events that are easy to enter and engage.
    • You are worshipping in spaces that span over three centuries!
