Worship with us at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday morning.

Welcome to Lexington United Methodist Church.

We are excited that you have chosen to visit us today. Here you will find a wonderful faith community whose lives are being changed by the love of Jesus Christ. All are welcome here!

Worship Schedule

Every Sunday at 10:00 am.  Expect a shortened service due to COVID-19.  Masks must be worn and a health screening and contact information is taken upon entry.  Seating in the sanctuary has been marked off for safe distancing.  We won't be singing and that makes us very sad.  We will offer prayers and praise and greet one another with smiling eyes and waves.

There are no children/nursery programs at this time.  Please plan to have your children remain with you throughout worship.  A special message just for them happens early in the service.  We love wiggles and squiggles and questions.

Children of all ages are welcome in worship!

We are worshiping at the Lexington United Methodist Church at 10:00 am each Sunday.

First Time to Lexington United Methodist Church?

Everyone is welcome with a mask!  Plan for a brief health screening with contact information upon entry.  Masks are to be worn at all times.

We ask you to leave your beverage in your vehicle or at home.  There is no coffee/social gathering following worship.  The information below is what usually happens when we don't have a pandemic!

The service information and announcements are projected on the overhead and forward screens.  We have removed all hymnals and Bibles.  There are no bulletins.

What we do have is a time of gathering, a time of prayer, a time of encountering the Living Word, Jesus the Christ.  We hope you join us when you feel comfortable.  We will do whatever we can to make worship safe and healthy.

Church can be an intimidating place to visit for the first time— especially if you don’t know what to expect. We invite you to experience what the gospel means both intellectually and relationally at one of our Sunday worship services. You can engage with others as much as you want, or remain anonymous if you prefer. We hope that through visiting with us, you will experience the hope, love and joy that comes from a community of people who love Jesus.

  • Nursery

    Nursery

Little ones ages 6 weeks through 35 months can experience a loving, nurturing, first church experience starting at 10:00 a.m. Pagers are available. The nursery is located on the entry level just inside the activity center (gym).

  • Sunday School

    Sunday School

Sunday School is scheduled every Sunday at 10:15 a.m.  following the children's time with Pastor Susan Youmans. The children (preschool - 6th grade) meet their teachers at the back of sanctuary and enjoy lessons in classrooms on the entry level in the activity center (gym).

We understand that some families prefer to worship together, so children of all ages are always welcome to stay in the sanctuary. Kids activity packs are available at the back of the sanctuary. Children of all ages are welcome to participate in Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month.  Whether they are already in the sanctuary, or participating in Sunday School, children return to the sanctuary to experience Holy Communion with their families.

If you have any questions, our Children's Ministry leaders and the Pastor are available to help you with answers.

  • Parking and accessibility

    Parking

You will find off-street parking directly behind the church building off Lake Street.  Additional parking on Lake Street.  Handicap parking spaces are closest to the main entrance under the canopy (facing east).

    Accessibility

The main entrance is at ground level.  The restrooms, with changing tables and handicap access, are located on the main floor just off the lobby.  The main activity center/gym is on this level. Most activities throughout the week are held in the activity center.

  • Sunday worship

Sunday Worship is held in the sanctuary on the upper level.  An elevator is available, along with helpful greeters to assist you.  The gathering area at the top of the stairs includes coffee service and a unisex restroom.

The sanctuary is air-conditioned for comfort in the summer months.

A small room off the sanctuary is available for those who need to care for unhappy little ones or anyone who needs to step out of the service.  This room has speakers to hear the service.

Worship here is "come as you are."  Summer shorts and sandals are welcome.  You will find folks wearing anything from ties and jackets, dresses and heels to bermudas and t-shirts. The pastor will be wearing a robe and stole on Holy Communion Sundays and other special services.  You will find songbooks in the pew pockets and lyrics on the screens overhead.  There is a mix of tradition and technology here to help create worship events that are easy to enter and engage.  You are worshipping in spaces that span over three centuries!
